What evidence do you need?
How do you know when something is true, or good for you?
What do you pay attention to? What metrics do you use?
I find it so interesting that, as a species, we have to keep on seeking evidence for that which is hidden in plain sight. Thousands of years of human experience are dismissed, and we have to seek new explanations for what we already know. We have to keep on re-inventing the wheel!
What’s that about? What other species does that? And what is the potential fix for the price it costs us to not learn from the experience of our elders, or others – or even ourselves?
There is no better way to gather evidence about a situation than to pay attention to it. The most productive way to pay attention to something is via contemplation through meditation.
You are an energy being in human form on earth. You ARE the most complex instrument we know of to conduct measure and transform energy. If you don’t know that about yourself, how can you possibly lean into your ability to read a situation?
You can’t.
You can’t be aware of what is going on until you are aware of WHAT YOU ARE and how you are picking up energy that is all around you. So, if you insist on disempowering yourself by discounting your own intuitive ability to assess the quality of energy that is being generated around you, what does that leave you? What do you give the power to? What evidence do you need to assess whether something is true, or good for you?
I am delighted that an in depth study on ‘Neural and molecular changes during a mind-body reconceptualization, meditation, and open label placebo healing intervention' has just been published in 'Nature'. Long may such research continue. And I am delighted for all those involved in trying to raise awareness of the benefits of meditation - and long may THAT continue. And really, do we have to have the evidence presented to us in such detail in order for us to just get on and do meditation every day?
My version:
Benefits of Meditation:
The scientific version in 'Nature':
‘Neural and molecular changes during a mind-body reconceptualization, meditation, and open label placebo healing intervention'...‘This observational study is the first to investigate the joint effects of three mind-body interventions–meditation, reconceptualization, and open-label placebo healing rituals–on neural activity and plasma physiology. Our findings show these techniques may act synergistically to produce mystical-type experiences, enhance neuroplasticity, reprogram metabolic pathways, and modulate endogenous opioids, highlighting the potential of mind-body interventions to effect profound changes in neural activity and physiology.’
